Tara, the oldest winery in Henderson County, is owned and operated by the Pierce family. Upon entering the grounds, you'll notice the stately Murchison home constructed in the 1880s and relocated to this property from downtown Athens. The Murchison home nestled amidst Tara's vineyards is now open to overnight guests and is called the "INN @ Tara". Adjoining the winery is a beautiful outdoor Pavilion/patio overlooking the vineyard and the rolling panoramic hills of East Texas which provide the perfect setting to experience Tara's unique selection of premium wines paired with gourmet deli platters. Additionally, the patio regularly serves as a venue for a variety of live musical events. Tara Vineyard & Winery is available for private tastings, barrel room tastings and parties, family picnics, group gatherings, meetings, private parties, private dinners, weddings and celebrations and is proud to offer winery tours, dinner events, vintner's dinners, live music, and customized wine labels to commemorate your special occasion. Our tasting room and covered pavilion is open daily for relaxing at TARA with "A Sip of Texas."
